Roger Booker celebrates his 80th birthday

Henley Squash Club’s Honorary President, Roger Booker, celebrated his 80th birthday recently. Current chairman, Steve Dance, and former chairman, Duncan Nightingale, were honoured to join friends, family and colleagues for a boat trip on the Thames.

Roger was Chairman of Henley Squash Club for many years and continues to be the eminence grise, regularly attending committee meetings and still donating all the squash balls used by the teams in inter-club matches.

Until quite recently Roger was a regular for the Henley teams – both in Oxfordshire and for the Vets in Berkshire. And not so long ago he was still in the prime position of our internal box league – top of division 1 month after month. He is still often to be found working out in the gym next to the courts at Henley Leisure Centre.

Roger has played at the highest level – including representing England in Masters tournaments. While working in the USA in 1983-1992 he played to a good level in inter-club hardball squash.

As well as being chairman at Henley, Roger has also served as Chairman of Oxfordshire Squash.

Happy Birthday, Roger, from everyone at Henley Squash Club! We look forward to your continued support and guidance.
